Rolls Royce Ghost (2010-2019) Rear Right Air Shock Absorber
A shock absorber or damper is a mechanical or hydraulic device used
to absorb and damp shock impulses. This is done by converting the
kinetic energy of the shock into another form of energy (typically
heat), which is then dissipated. Most shock absorbers are some sort
of dashpot (a damper that resists motion by viscous friction).
Component type: Air suspension system component
Function: Support vehicle weight, absorb road vibrations, maintain vehicle
stability and ride comfort, while collaborating with electronic
control systems to achieve dynamic damping adjustment.
Core Technology and Structure:
1. Integrated design of air spring and shock absorber
Composed of high-strength aluminum alloy and rubber airbags, the
interior is filled with compressed air, which adjusts the height
and hardness of the vehicle through changes in air pressure.
Integrated hydraulic shock absorbers (dampers) can dynamically
control rebound and compression rates, reducing the transmission of
bumps.
2. Adaptive damping system
Supporting Rolls Royce's Magic Carpet Ride technology, real-time
monitoring of road surface and driving conditions through onboard
sensors, and automatic adjustment of shock absorber softness and
hardness.
The rear right shock absorber works independently of the left shock
absorber to ensure that the vibration of one side of the wheel does
not affect the overall balance of the vehicle.
3. Electronic Control Unit (ECU) linkage
Communicate with the vehicle height sensor, acceleration sensor,
and chassis control module to achieve precise air pressure
adjustment (such as lowering the body during high-speed driving or
raising the body on bumpy roads).
Material and Durability
Airbag material: multi-layer reinforced rubber+nylon coating, resistant to aging
and puncture.
Shock absorber cylinder: chrome plated steel cylinder body, with
low friction sealing technology inside, suitable for high-frequency
compression motion.
Service life: Approximately 8.1 million kilometers under normal operating
conditions, but greatly affected by driving environments such as
extreme temperatures and road conditions.
